have established a semester and summer- long program to give students the opportunity to experience firsthand the complex London society through interdisciplinary coursework as well as tailored academic internships, service learning and research opportunities. In conjunction with unique and diverse academic experiences in sophisticated, metropolitan London, TCNJ students can participate in practical applications of the academic disciplines and gain a global perspective through both academic and fieldwork experience.
From the top of Big Ben to the bottom of the ever-flowing Thames River, London has a hustle of innovation that is hard to ignore. Historical documents, the cradle of the English language, and technological frontiers melt in this charismatic, diverse city to bring you the best of the best.FIE programs for study abroad in London are held at the Foundation House Study Center in the heart of the city’s Kensington district. Leafy trees and photogenic Georgian architecture line the streets of your walk home from nearby cultural institutions like Royal Albert Hall, Chelsea's famed King's Road, and stunning Hyde Park.
Established in 1998, FIE is a private, independent, non-profit educational exchange organization based in London, England offering academic year, semester, or summer study abroad program for college undergraduate students. Based in London a thriving multicultural city boasting cutting-edge music, art and fashion, as part of FIE’s course program, students attend field trips and site visits, are visited by London-based specialized guest lecturers and attend other programs in and around London. Previous co-curricular events and activities have included tours and lectures at the Globe Theatre, backstage tours of the National Theatre and guided visits to the Inns of Court and tours of Parliament. The arts, theater, nightlife, music and literature are just some of the things in which London excels, and just some of those that students can expect to experience during their program.

London offers a vast resource for experience-based learning. The work environments available to FIE interns cater to almost every major and include the various business sectors, not-for-profit, political, public sector and creative organizations. Through FIE’s internship course, including the placements and internship seminars, you will have the opportunity to build professional skills, increase industry knowledge and experience while working in a different culture and in a major global city.
Students who select to participate in the internship option will focus the first half of the semester on their academic coursework and then spend the rest of the semester in an internship experience and the accompanying internship course. FIE-London’s Student Life team is there to help you make the most of your time studying abroad. They provide a comprehensive orientation program, organize activities outside of the classroom, offer travel advice, support your health and well-being, and can provide guidance on other opportunities and services in London. FIE’s student residences are located in some of the most vibrant parts of London, a short Tube ride or walk away from the Foundation House study center.
All FIE student housing and study facilities are in the city center Zone 1 locality and well-serviced by the 24-hour public transport system. By residing in Zone 1, you can optimize your study abroad experience by easily visiting and familiarizing yourself with all the city has to offer, from museums to clubs and cafes. FIE is ideally situated for ease of study, travel, and visiting cultural and historic places.
Student residential buildings in the Kensington area are usually mid to late 19th century converted townhouses. Some are flats and some are floor style. Most students will live in double, triple, and quad occupancy rooms. Each bedroom is fully furnished. Common kitchens are equipped with cookware, silverware, and dishes. Metrogate, our main housing facility in London, offers app-operated laundry facilities for use by FIE residents. All residences feature common living areas where students can interact.
